Mr. Schwartz has been Chief Credit Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Great Elm Specialty Finance, a subsidiary of GECC, since January 2024. He is a seasoned lending executive with over 20 years of experience in all facets of lending with a focus on credit, special assets, and loan portfolio management.

Prior to joining Great Elm, Mr. Schwartz was the Chief Credit Officer of Pacific Western Bank Community Bank. During his tenure at Pacific Western Bank and its predecessor, CapitalSource Finance, Mr. Schwartz oversaw credit and portfolio management for a wide array of loan types including CRE, Construction, Rediscount, ABL and healthcare. Prior to joining CapitalSource, Mr. Schwartz was a senior associate with KPMG, where he was involved in planning and performing financial statement audits, reviews and diligence engagements for public and private clients.

Mr. Schwartz holds a B.S. in Accounting from Towson University, an MBA from Loyola College, and was certified as a CPA (currently inactive).
